
Nathan Steele
Director
Nathan Steele is a passionate educator and trainer in the law enforcement and education fields. Over a 31 year law enforcement career he held numerous positions related to Risk Assessment, Site Security, Social Media, Press Relations, Internal Affairs, S.W.A.T. and has a diverse investigations background. With over 25 years as an instructor in a wide variety of topics he has had the opportunity to train and teach thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Biography
Nathan recently retired after 31 years in law enforcement. He held numerous ranks and specialized assignments throughout his career including Social Media Coordinator, Public Information Officer, Internal Affairs Investigator, S.W.A.T.(Operator, Team Leader and Commander), and the organization's Legal Cannabis Coordinator which included plan review and risk assessments. Retiring at the rank of Lieutenant he oversaw both General and Specialized Investigations for the last 10 years of his career.
In addition to his passion for Law Enforcement, Nathan always knew that he wanted to pursue teaching. For the last 16 years he has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at Los Rios Community College district and California State University Sacramento teaching a wide variety of law enforcement academic courses. Additionally, he currently instructs a 24 hour POST certified Internal Affairs Course as well as several topics in the POST Basic Academy.
In 2010 Nathan created and began teaching a first of its kind course focused on best practices and safeguards related to the use of Social Media and Technology. The course has been customized to cover a variety of professions including Public Safety, Education, and private sector professionals. The course was designed to educate and inform employees and their organizations on safeguards and best practices in their personal and professional roles. This widely successful course is available in both in person instruction and through facilitated Zoom sessions.
Nathan holds a Masters of Science degree from California State University. He holds numerous instructor and managerial certifications in a wide variety of law enforcement related fields.
