Developing Effective Special Education Teams
3 x 90 mins | 5 hrs
It is not uncommon for school-based members of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to work independently and then come together for formal IEP meetings. This can lead to situations where team members may be surprised by assessment results, accommodation/modification ideas, goal suggestions and draft offers of services. There are a few reasons why this may happen: limited communication, different perspectives, and expertise, as well as time restraints.
This three-part course will include strategies for effective team communication, IEP preparation, assessment planning, communication with parents and caregivers, and how to facilitate IEP meetings with a positive outcome for all team members and most importantly, the student.
