Threats of violence in our nation’s schools are a growing problem. Understanding how to recognize individuals who may be on a pathway towards violence is one of the most important prevention strategies.
This introductory course provides a foundation for understanding the key concepts and leveraging available tools and resources. Participants will learn to recognize the warning signs and how to develop recommendations on appropriate means of intervention/mitigation with individuals whose behavior may represent a threat. Participants will also be introduced to response strategies in the event an incident of violence does occur.
Target Audience: All Classified and certificated staff. School Administrators, School Directors and Board of trustees
Key Content: This course provides educators with a structured, researched-based process for identifying, managing and if necessary, responding to incidents of violence by leveraging recommended practices by the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Department of Education
